An Inability To Love

Matthew 20:25-28: But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

When I received Jesus I knew that His plan for me was that He would give me some sort of ministry. But when I studied the word minister I discovered that it meant a servant. I did not like that. My flesh still does not like it. But the Lord has made me a new creature that thrives on serving Him and others. As we grow as Christians we are more joyful and more fulfilled the more we serve.

Jesus came to love and to serve. Love and service are inseparable. Service is a direct result of love. The more we love the more we serve.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

When we receive Christ He places the Holy Spirit in our hearts. We then experience the love of God for ourselves and we are given an ability demonstrate the love of God to others. Individuals who have not received Jesus can sometimes appear to love others but it is always fake. When we have personally experienced the love of God for ourselves, we learn to recognize real love and fake love. Fake love will eventually stumble over service. Sooner or later there will be something that those folk will be unwilling to do for others. They will limit what they will do for others and for God Himself. Jesus demonstrated and continually demonstrates His servanthood. He served us by creating us. He serves us by providing every morsel of food we eat and every breath of air we breathe. He served us by dying for our sins. He will serve us by taking us to Heaven one day. He wants to serve us by making us new creatures who are the objects and channels of His love.

Individuals without Christ need to receive the love of God and become channels of it. Until they receive the love of God they are totally unable to love with the love of God. Rejecting Christ is rejecting the love of God for oneself AND the ability to love others with the love of God.
